Machining features on the end or side of a cylindrical shaft—such as milling a hex head, cutting a keyway, or drilling a cross-hole—often requires complex setups with rotary tables or indexers. The ER Collet Fixture Block offers a brilliantly simple and highly accurate alternative. By inserting your workpiece into a standard ER collet and tightening it within the block, you can simply drop the block into a standard milling vise. To index the part, you just loosen the vise, rotate the block to its next flat side, and re-clamp. It provides instant, repeatable 90° or 60° indexing with the superior gripping force and concentricity of the ER collet system.
Rapid Indexing (Square & Hex):
Square Blocks: Provide perfect 90-degree indexing, ideal for machining square heads, parallel flats, or perpendicular cross-holes.
Hex Blocks: Provide perfect 60-degree indexing, ideal for machining hex heads (like custom bolts) or 3-sided/6-sided features.
High-Precision Grinding: Manufactured from high-quality tool steel, hardened to HRC 45-50, and precision-ground on all exterior flats and the internal ER taper. This ensures excellent parallelism, squareness, and concentricity.
Through-Hole Design: The blocks are hollow through the center. This allows long rods or shafts to pass completely through the fixture, enabling you to machine the very end of a long workpiece without interference.
Standard ER Compatibility: Utilizes standard DIN 6499 ER collets (ER16, ER25, ER32, ER40). If you already have a set of ER collets in your shop, you can immediately use them with these fixture blocks.
Cam-Action Clamping Nut: Equipped with a standard or friction-bearing ER clamping nut for secure, high-torque gripping of the workpiece.
Direct Manufacturer Savings: Source premium collet fixture blocks directly from our factory, bypassing middlemen for highly competitive wholesale pricing.
Complete Size Range: We manufacture blocks for the entire range of popular ER sizes: ER16, ER20, ER25, ER32, and ER40, in both square and hex shapes.
Versatile Applications: Ideal for CNC vertical machining centers (VMCs), manual milling machines, surface grinders, and even as stationary tool holders on CNC lathes.
Strict Quality Control: Every block is rigorously inspected for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and taper runout to guarantee flawless performance out of the box.
Q1: How do I mount this fixture block on my machine?
A: The most common and fastest method is to clamp the block directly into a standard precision milling vise (like a Kurt vise). Because the block's sides are perfectly parallel and square, the vise jaws will hold it dead true. Alternatively, for surface grinding, you can place the block directly onto a magnetic chuck. You can also use standard strap clamps to secure it directly to the T-slots of a machine table.
Q2: Can I pass a long workpiece through the block?
A:Yes. Our ER collet fixture blocks feature a through-hole design. As long as the diameter of your workpiece is smaller than the through-hole diameter of the block (and the collet), you can pass a long shaft entirely through the fixture.
Q3: Are the ER collet and the wrench included with the block?
A: Typically, the product includes the precision block and the clamping nut. ER collets and the spanner wrench are usually sold separately, as most machine shops already own standard ER collets. However, we can supply complete sets (Block + Nut + Wrench + Collet Set) upon request. Please specify your requirements when sending an inquiry.
Q4: What is the maximum clamping diameter?
A: The maximum clamping diameter depends on the ER size of the block you choose:
ER16 Block: Up to 10mm (3/8")
ER25 Block: Up to 16mm (5/8")
ER32 Block: Up to 20mm (3/4")
ER40 Block: Up to 26mm (1") or 30mm with oversized collets.
Simplify your setups and speed up your indexing with our Precision Square and Hex ER Collet Fixture Blocks.
