The SK High-Speed Collet Chuck is the premier choice for modern CNC shops focused on high-speed machining (HSM), mold making, and micro-milling. Unlike the general-purpose ER system (16° taper), the SK system utilizes a shallower 8° taper. This design seats the collet deeper into the chuck body, providing a much larger contact area. The result is a massive increase in gripping force, enhanced rigidity, and ultra-low runout, ensuring your cutting tools run dead-true even at extreme spindle speeds.
8-Degree Taper Design: The shallow taper angle provides up to 2 times the clamping force of a standard ER chuck, completely eliminating tool slippage during high-speed, high-feed milling.
Ultra-Precision Runout: The internal taper and external spindle taper are precision ground to exacting tolerances. Runout (T.I.R.) is guaranteed to be ≤ 0.003mm (0.00012") at 4 times the diameter (4D).
High-Speed Balance: Every SK chuck is dynamically balanced to G2.5 at 25,000 RPM (or higher upon request), minimizing spindle bearing wear and eliminating vibration-induced chatter marks on your workpieces.
Slim Profile Nut: The SK clamping nut is designed with a smaller outer diameter and no standard wrench flats (uses a roller bearing or hook spanner), reducing windage and providing excellent clearance for deep cavity machining.
Premium Material: Forged from high-grade 20CrMnTi alloy steel, case-hardened to HRC 56-60, and sub-zero treated to ensure long-term dimensional stability and wear resistance.
Direct Manufacturer Savings: Source high-performance HSM tooling directly from our factory, bypassing trading companies for unbeatable wholesale pricing.
Strict Quality Control: 100% inspected using advanced air gauges and dynamic balancing machines before packaging.
Complete Tooling Sets: We manufacture the matching SK Collets (Standard and High-Precision classes) and specialized SK Spanner Wrenches for perfect system compatibility.
OEM & Customization: We offer custom laser engraving of your logo, part numbers, and balancing specs directly onto the tool holders.
Q1: What is the main difference between SK and ER collet chucks?
A: The primary difference is the taper angle. ER collets have a 16° taper, which is great for general-purpose clamping with a wide collapse range (typically 1mm). SK collets have an 8° taper, which provides significantly higher gripping force, better concentricity, and is specifically designed for high-speed, high-precision milling.
Q2: Can I use ER collets in an SK chuck?
A: No. The taper angles are completely different (16° vs. 8°). You must use SK collets in an SK chuck, and ER collets in an ER chuck.
Q3: What does "balanced to G2.5 @ 25,000 RPM" mean?
A: This is an ISO standard for balancing rotating tools. It means the chuck has been precisely machined and tested to ensure the center of mass aligns almost perfectly with the axis of rotation. This prevents vibration, poor surface finishes, and premature spindle bearing failure when spinning at 25,000 revolutions per minute.
Q4: Do I need a special wrench for the SK nut?
A: Yes. Because SK nuts are designed for high-speed aerodynamics, they are often perfectly round without standard wrench flats. They require a specialized roller-bearing spanner wrench (or a specific hook/pin wrench depending on the nut style) to tighten without damaging the nut or throwing off the balance.
