When machining deep pockets or intricate mold details, standard tool holders often suffer from clearance issues due to their large clamping nuts. The SK SDC Back Pull Collet Chuck is engineered to overcome this limitation. Featuring the industry-standard DIN 69871 (SK) taper, this holder employs a unique internal draw-nut design. Instead of threading a nut onto the outside of the chuck, the mechanism pulls the SDC collet into the taper from behind. This allows the nose of the tool holder to be incredibly slim—often only slightly larger than the cutting tool itself—granting you access to tight spaces without sacrificing rigidity or resorting to vibration-prone, extra-long end mills.
Ultra-Slim Nose Design: The back-pull mechanism eliminates the external clamping nut, providing maximum clearance for deep cavity and 5-axis contour milling.
High Precision & Low Runout: The shallow taper angle of the SDC collet combined with precision grinding ensures a Total Indicator Runout (T.I.R.) of ≤ 0.005mm (5 microns) at the collet nose, significantly improving surface finish and extending tool life.
High-Speed Balance: Pre-balanced to G2.5 @ 25,000 RPM, ensuring smooth, vibration-free performance during high-speed machining operations.
Superior Clamping Force: The internal pull-back action creates a uniform, 360-degree gripping force along the tool shank, preventing tool pull-out even during aggressive feed rates.
Premium Material & Treatment: Forged from high-grade 20CrMnTi alloy steel, deeply case-hardened to HRC 56-58, and cryogenically treated to maintain long-term dimensional stability and accuracy.
Direct Manufacturer Pricing: Bypass middlemen and source premium high-precision slim chucks directly from our factory for highly competitive wholesale costs.
Comprehensive SK Range: We offer a full range of DIN 69871 holders, including SK30, SK40, and SK50 tapers, with various gauge lengths (L-lengths) to suit your specific machining needs.
Versatile SDC Collet Sizes: Compatible with industry-standard SDC/DC collets, including SDC06 (clamping 2-6mm) and SDC08 (clamping 2-8mm), as well as larger sizes like SDC10 and SDC12.
Rigorous Quality Control: Every tool holder undergoes strict inspection using 3D CMMs, taper gauges (AT3 standard), and dynamic balancing machines prior to shipment.
Q1: What is the advantage of the SK (DIN 69871) taper over the BT (MAS 403) taper?
A: Both are excellent, widely used steep-taper interfaces. The primary difference lies in the V-flange design and the tool changer gripper groove. SK (also known as DAT or ISO) tapers are standard on many European-designed CNC machines, while BT is more common on Asian machines. Functionally, they offer similar rigidity and performance. You must choose the taper that matches your machine's spindle.
Q2: Why choose a back-pull SDC chuck instead of a shrink-fit holder for tight clearances?
A: Shrink-fit holders offer excellent clearance and runout but require an expensive induction heating machine to change tools, and the holders themselves have a limited lifespan due to thermal cycling. The SDC back-pull chuck provides comparable clearance and precision (0.005mm runout) but allows for quick, easy tool changes at the machine using just a specialized wrench, making it a more versatile and cost-effective solution for many shops.
Q3: Can I use standard ER collets in an SDC back-pull chuck?
A:No. The internal taper angle and the clamping mechanism are completely different. SDC chucks require specifically designed SDC (or DC) slim collets, which have a much shallower taper angle (typically 6-8 degrees) compared to the 16-degree taper of an ER collet.
Q4: Do I need a special wrench for this tool holder?
A:Yes. Because the nose is completely smooth and cylindrical to maximize clearance and maintain high-speed balance, there are no standard wrench flats. You must use a specialized roller bearing wrench or a specific slim-profile spanner designed for SDC/DC chucks to tighten the internal mechanism securely without damaging the holder.
