A:Yes, in most cases. The WF12, WF24, and WF33 interfaces are based on a widely adopted international standard (often referred to as the Bilz standard). Our holders will generally accept standard quick-change collets from other major tooling brands that use this same interface size.
Q2: Should I choose a Rigid holder or a Tension/Compression holder?
A: If your CNC machine has "Rigid Tapping" (synchronized spindle and Z-axis feed), you can use a Rigid BT-WF holder. If your machine is older and lacks this feature, or if you are tapping very tough materials and want to improve thread finish and tap life, you should choose a BT-WF holder with Tension & Compression (Axial Float) to absorb synchronization errors.
Q3: Do the WF collets have overload protection?
A: The WF interface refers to the quick-change connection size. The collets themselves come in two types: Rigid Collets (solid drive) and Torque-Control Collets (with a built-in slip clutch). If you are tapping blind holes and want to prevent tap breakage, you should specify Torque-Control WF collets when ordering.
Q4: How do I ensure the collet fits my tap perfectly?
A: Taps manufactured to JIS, DIN, and ISO standards have different shank diameters and driving square dimensions for the exact same thread size. You must ensure that the WF collet you select specifically matches the standard (JIS, DIN, or ISO) of the tap you are using. Please provide your tap standard and sizes when requesting a quote, and we will match the correct collets for you.
