Besides this too holder locking device, we also have tool hodler locking device for HSK tool holders and ISO tool holders.
The CNC Tool Holder Locking Device (also known as a Tightening Fixture or Tool Assembly Block) is an indispensable workstation accessory for any machine shop. Attempting to tighten or loosen collet nuts or retention knobs by holding the tool in a standard bench vise can severely score or deform the precision taper, leading to runout issues and spindle damage. Our locking devices are engineered to cradle the tool holder by its flange or drive slots, isolating the delicate taper from any clamping forces. This ensures safe, ergonomic, and damage-free tool preparation.
Taper Protection Design: The fixture grips the tool holder securely by the V-flange or drive keys, ensuring the precision ground taper never touches the fixture body, completely preventing scratches and deformation.
Heavy-Duty Construction: Available in two main styles: High-Strength Aluminum Alloy (lightweight, anodized finish, excellent for protecting the tool holder) and Cast Steel/Iron (maximum durability for heavy-duty torquing of BT50/CAT50 holders).
Multi-Position Mounting: Designed with pre-drilled holes, allowing the fixture to be securely bolted to a workbench or tool cart in either a vertical or horizontal orientation for maximum operator comfort.
Broad Compatibility: We manufacture dedicated locking devices for all major spindle tapers, including BT (30/40/50), CAT (40/50), SK/DAT (40/50), and HSK (A63/A100).
Roller Bearing Options: Advanced models feature internal roller bearings (needle rollers) that grip the tool holder flange smoothly, allowing for bi-directional locking without using the drive slots (ideal for keyless or high-speed holders).
Direct Manufacturer Savings: Bypass trading companies and source essential CNC workstation accessories directly from our factory for highly competitive wholesale pricing.
Built to Last: Our locking devices are designed for the harsh environment of a busy toolroom, offering years of reliable service.
Complete Tooling Solutions: We provide everything you need for tool preparation, including the locking devices, Collet Chucks, ER Collets, Spanner Wrenches, and Pull Studs.
OEM & Customization: We offer custom colors (anodizing/painting) and laser engraving of your brand logo for retail distributors.
Q1: Why can't I just use a standard bench vise to change my tools?
A: A standard bench vise applies crushing force directly to the precision-ground taper of the tool holder. Even minor scratches or micro-deformations on the taper will cause the tool to seat improperly in the machine spindle, leading to severe runout, poor surface finishes, and premature spindle bearing failure. A locking device grips the flange, keeping the taper perfectly safe.
Q2: What is the difference between the Aluminum and Cast Iron locking devices?
A:
Aluminum Alloy: Lighter, won't rust, and the softer metal provides an extra layer of protection against scratching the tool holder flange. Excellent for BT30/BT40 and HSK holders.
Cast Iron / Steel: Heavier and more rigid. Best suited for large BT50 or CAT50 tool holders where massive torque is required to tighten large collet nuts or face mill arbors.
Q3: Can one locking device fit multiple taper sizes (e.g., BT40 and BT50)?
A: Generally, no. The locking device is precisely machined to fit the specific flange diameter and drive key dimensions of a single taper size (e.g., a BT40 fixture only fits BT40 holders). You will need a separate fixture for each taper size you use in your shop.
Q4: Do you offer the "Roller Bearing" style locking devices?
A: Yes. Traditional locking devices use fixed metal keys that engage the slots on the tool holder. Our Roller Bearing (Keyless) Locking Devices use internal needle bearings that grip the round flange tightly in both directions. This is faster to use and ideal for tool holders that don't have standard drive slots.
