Besides elctronic edge finder, we also have mechanical edge finder
Electronic edge finders work in a similar way to mechanical edge finders. However, the location of an edge is indicated by an LED light rather than by the probe of the device becoming offset. Another difference is that the spindle of a machine does not need to be rotating for the electronic edge finder to work.
The Electronic (Photoelectric) Edge Finder is a massive upgrade over traditional mechanical edge finders. Because it relies on electrical conductivity rather than centrifugal force, it completely eliminates the need to turn on the machine spindle. This not only makes the setup process significantly faster but also much safer for the operator. It is the ideal tool for quickly establishing the X and Y-axis zero coordinates on CNC milling centers, manual knee mills, and boring machines, ensuring your machining operations start exactly where they should.
Instant Visual & Audio Feedback: Equipped with a highly visible red LED indicator and a loud internal buzzer. You will see and hear the exact moment of contact, eliminating operator guesswork.
No Spindle Rotation Required: Works entirely while the spindle is stationary. This protects delicate workpiece surfaces from being scratched by a spinning probe and enhances operator safety.
High Precision & Repeatability: The probe tip (typically 10mm diameter) and the shank are precision ground. It delivers a highly reliable measuring accuracy of ±0.005mm (0.0002").
Spring-Loaded Over-Travel Protection: The measuring ball is spring-loaded. If the operator accidentally jogs the axis slightly too far after contact, the probe will deflect rather than snap, protecting both the tool and the workpiece.
Premium Construction: Made from high-quality, wear-resistant alloy steel. The internal battery compartment is sealed against coolant and shop dust. (Uses standard, easily replaceable batteries like LR44 or 23A).
Direct Manufacturer Savings: Bypass trading companies and source premium CNC measuring instruments directly from our factory for highly competitive wholesale pricing.
Strict Quality Control: Every electronic edge finder is tested for electrical continuity, trigger sensitivity, and concentricity before packaging.
Protective Packaging: Each unit comes in a fitted, shock-absorbing wooden or plastic case to ensure it arrives at your facility in perfect working condition.
OEM & Customization: We offer custom laser engraving of your brand logo on the tool body and customized packaging for retail distributors.
Q1: How does an electronic edge finder work compared to a mechanical one?
A:
Mechanical: Requires the spindle to spin at ~500 RPM. You jog the machine until the lower half of the edge finder "kicks" out of concentricity.
Electronic: The spindle remains OFF. It contains a battery circuit. When the metal probe touches your metal workpiece, it grounds the circuit, instantly turning on the LED light and beeper.
Q2: Can I use this electronic edge finder on plastic, wood, or anodized aluminum?
A:No. Because it relies on completing an electrical circuit, the workpiece must be electrically conductive. It will not work on non-conductive materials like plastics, ceramics, wood, or heavily anodized/painted metals. For those materials, you must use a mechanical edge finder or a 3D taster.
Q3: How do I calculate the true edge of my part after the light turns on?
A: The probe ball has a specific diameter (usually 10mm). When the light turns on, the centerline of your spindle is exactly half that diameter away from the edge.Example: If using a 10mm probe, when it beeps, you simply offset your machine coordinate by 5.00mm in the direction of the probe to find the true zero edge.
Q4: What size is the shank? How do I hold it in the machine?
A: Most of our standard electronic edge finders feature a 20mm straight shank (or 3/4" for imperial markets). You can securely clamp it into your machine spindle using a standard ER collet chuck, milling chuck, or end mill holder.
Speed up your setups and eliminate guesswork with our photoelectric edge finders.
