Precision Parallel Blocks are fundamental tools for accurate machining. They are placed under the workpiece within a vise to raise it to the desired height while maintaining strict parallelism with the machine bed. Unlike makeshift spacers, our hardened parallels resist compression and wear, providing a reliable reference surface for years of daily use.
High Accuracy: Precision ground to a parallelism tolerance of ±0.005mm (0.0002") and paired in height to ±0.005mm, ensuring your workpiece sits perfectly flat.
Hardened Durability: Made from high-quality alloy steel (S45C or 20Cr), stress-relieved and hardened to HRC 48-53 to resist nicks and scratches from chips or heavy clamping forces.
Chamfered Edges: All edges are slightly chamfered to prevent damage to the vise jaws or workpiece and to allow for easy insertion.
Versatile Sets:
Thin Parallels (1/8" or ~3mm thick): Ideal for smaller parts or when maximum vise opening is needed. Common set: 10 pairs (20pcs) or 9 pairs (18pcs).
Thick Parallels (1/4" or ~6mm thick): For heavy-duty support.
Metric & Imperial: Available in 150mm length (Metric) or 6 inch length (Imperial).
Protective Case: Comes in a custom-fitted wooden or molded plastic box to protect the precision surfaces when not in use.

18-Piece Set (VP-118): Contains 9 pairs of parallels. Usually 1/4" thick x 6" long. Heights range from 3/4" to 1-3/4" in 1/8" increments.
28-Piece Set (VP-128): Contains 14 pairs of parallels. Usually 1/8" thick x 6" long. Offers a wider range of heights (e.g., 1/2" to 1-5/8") for finer adjustments.
Q2: Are these parallels sold individually or only in sets?
A: We primarily sell them in matched sets because keeping them paired is crucial for accuracy. However, for bulk orders, we can supply specific sizes (e.g., 100 pairs of 1/2" height) for production fixtures.
Q3: What is the tolerance on the height?
A: Within a pair, the height difference is strictly controlled to be within 0.005mm. The absolute height tolerance is typically ±0.01mm.
Q4: How do I prevent them from rusting?
A: Our parallels come with a light coat of anti-rust oil. We recommend wiping them clean before use and reapplying a light oil or rust inhibitor before storing them back in the case.
