The Morse Taper Reducing Sleeve is a fundamental accessory for any machine shop operating lathes, radial drill presses, or milling machines. When your cutting tool has a smaller Morse Taper shank than your machine's spindle or tailstock, this sleeve acts as the perfect bridge. It provides a rigid, highly accurate connection that transmits high torque without slipping, ensuring your drilling and reaming operations remain precise and chatter-free.
High Concentricity: Both the internal and external tapers are precision ground in a single setup. Runout (T.I.R.) is strictly controlled to ≤ 0.015mm, ensuring your drills run true and hole sizes remain accurate.
Premium Hardened Steel: Manufactured from high-grade 65Mn spring steel or 20CrMnTi alloy steel. The entire sleeve is heat-treated to a uniform hardness of HRC 48-52, preventing scoring, wear, and deformation inside the spindle.
Standard Tang Design: Features a standard tang slot at the end, allowing for quick, safe, and easy removal of the cutting tool using a standard drift key.
Seamless Fit: The ground surfaces provide a minimum of 85% taper contact area, creating a powerful friction fit that prevents the tool from spinning under heavy cutting loads.
Comprehensive Size Range: We offer standard consecutive reductions (e.g., MT2-MT3, MT3-MT4) as well as "jump" sizes (e.g., MT1-MT3, MT2-MT4) to eliminate the need for stacking multiple sleeves.
Direct Manufacturer: We produce these sleeves in massive quantities, allowing us to offer highly competitive wholesale prices to distributors and large end-users.
Strict Quality Control: Every sleeve is inspected using precision taper gauges to verify the angle and contact area before packaging.
One-Stop Tooling Solution: Alongside MT sleeves, we manufacture a full range of MT arbors, drill chucks, and live centers.
OEM & Customization: We can laser engrave your brand logo and part numbers directly onto the sleeves for easy identification.
Q1: How do I read the sizing of a Morse Taper Sleeve (e.g., MT2-MT3)?
A: The sizing indicates the internal and external tapers.
The first number (MT2) is the Internal Taper (which matches the shank of your drill bit).
The second number (MT3) is the External Taper (which matches your machine's spindle or tailstock).
Q2: Can I stack multiple sleeves together (e.g., put an MT1-MT2 inside an MT2-MT3)?
A: While it is physically possible to stack sleeves, we highly discourage it. Stacking multiplies the runout error and reduces rigidity. Instead, you should use a single "jump" sleeve, such as an MT1-MT3 adapter, for the best accuracy and safety.
Q3: How do I remove the drill bit from the sleeve?
A: You use a wedge-shaped tool called a Drift Key. Insert the drift key into the slot on the side of the sleeve and tap it lightly with a hammer. The wedge action will easily pop the tool out of the internal taper.
Q4: Are the inside and outside both hardened?
A: Yes. Unlike cheap, unhardened sleeves that will quickly gall and ruin your machine's spindle, our sleeves are fully hardened on both the inside and outside surfaces for maximum durability.
Ensure precise and secure tool holding for all your drilling operations.
