The Carbide Tipped Boring Bar is a fundamental cutting tool for any machine shop performing internal hole enlargement, profiling, or facing. Unlike solid high-speed steel tools that dull quickly, or indexable boring bars that can be bulky for small holes, brazed carbide boring bars offer the perfect balance of extreme cutting edge hardness, rigidity, and compact size. They are the standard tooling choice for use with F1 offset boring heads on milling machines, as well as for internal turning operations on manual and CNC lathes.
Premium Carbide Tips: Equipped with high-quality tungsten carbide inserts (typically C6 for steel/alloys or C2 for cast iron/aluminum), providing excellent red hardness and prolonged tool life even at high cutting speeds.
Rigid Shank Construction: The shanks are manufactured from hardened alloy steel or HSS, maximizing rigidity to minimize deflection and eliminate chatter during deep-hole boring operations.
Optimized Cutting Geometry: The carbide tips are precision-ground with optimized rake and clearance angles, ensuring smooth chip evacuation, reduced cutting forces, and superior surface finishes.
Comprehensive Sets: Available in convenient 9-piece or 12-piece sets. Each set includes bars of varying lengths and minimum bore capacities, allowing you to tackle shallow, medium, and deep holes without compromising rigidity.
Standard Shank Sizes: Manufactured with industry-standard shank diameters (e.g., 12mm, 18mm, 25mm metric; 1/2", 3/4", 1" imperial) to fit perfectly into standard boring heads and tool holders.
Direct Manufacturer Savings: Bypass trading companies and source premium cutting tools directly from our factory for highly competitive wholesale pricing.
Strong Brazing Process: We utilize advanced high-frequency induction brazing techniques to ensure the carbide tip is permanently and securely fused to the steel shank, preventing tip detachment under heavy loads.
Protective Packaging: Our boring bar sets are supplied in custom-fitted wooden or plastic storage bases, keeping the cutting edges protected and organized in your toolroom.
OEM & Customization: We offer custom shank sizes, specific carbide grades, and laser engraving of your brand logo on the tool shanks for retail distribution.
Q1: What is the difference between C2 and C6 carbide grades?
A:
C2 (K-Class): Highly wear-resistant but more brittle. Best suited for machining abrasive, short-chipping materials like Cast Iron, Aluminum, Brass, and Plastics.
C6 (P-Class): Tougher and more resistant to crater wear and thermal shock. Best suited for machining long-chipping materials like Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, and Stainless Steel.
Q2: How do I choose the right boring bar from the set for my job?
A: The golden rule of boring is to use the thickest and shortest boring bar that will fit into the hole and reach the required depth.
Minimum Bore: Ensure the bar's cutting head is smaller than your starting hole diameter.
Length: Choose a bar that is just long enough to reach the bottom of the bore. Using a bar that is too long reduces rigidity and causes chatter (vibration).
Q3: Can these brazed carbide boring bars be resharpened?
A: Yes. Unlike indexable insert boring bars where the insert is thrown away, brazed carbide tools can be resharpened multiple times using a silicon carbide (green wheel) or diamond grinding wheel. This makes them very economical for general machine shop use.
Q4: Will these fit my F1 boring head?
A: Yes, you just need to match the shank size. If you have a 50mm (2") F1 boring head, it typically requires 12mm (or 1/2") shank boring bars. A 75mm (3") head requires 18mm (or 3/4") shanks. Please verify your boring head's hole size before ordering.
Achieve flawless internal finishes with our rigid, long-lasting carbide boring bars.
