While ER collets are excellent for general-purpose work on manual machines, they can struggle to hold large-diameter end mills securely during heavy roughing cuts. The NT OZ Collet Chuck is engineered to solve this problem for traditional milling equipment. The OZ system (standardized as DIN 6388 or EOC) uses a 1:10 (approx. 5.7-degree) taper angle, which is much shallower and significantly longer than the 8-degree ER taper. This extended surface contact area generates massive frictional gripping force along the entire length of the tool shank, providing extreme rigidity and completely eliminating the risk of the cutter slipping or pulling out under heavy axial loads.
Maximum Gripping Force: The shallow 1:10 taper design of the OZ (EOC) collet delivers up to 50% more clamping torque than standard ER systems, absolutely preventing solid carbide or HSS end mills from pulling out during heavy-depth-of-cut (HDOC) manual milling.

Q1: Why should I choose an NT OZ Chuck over an NT ER Chuck for my manual mill?

Q3: Can I use this NT40 holder in a BT40 or SK40 CNC machine?
A:No. While NT40, BT40, and SK40 all share the same 7/24 taper angle, NT holders have a cylindrical pilot and an internal thread for a manual drawbar. They do not have the V-flange required for an Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) or the threads for a pull stud. They are strictly for manual or conventional NC machines with a drawbar.
Q4: How do I tighten the OZ nut?
A: OZ tool holders use a large, round ball-bearing nut with slots cut into the side. You must use a heavy-duty Hook Spanner Wrench (C-Spanner) that matches the outer diameter of the OZ nut (e.g., an OZ25 hook wrench). Unlike ER nuts, you cannot use a standard hex wrench.
