The ER Collet Spanner Wrench is the fundamental hand tool required for assembling and disassembling cutting tools in ER collet chucks. Using the incorrect wrench (or adjustable pliers) to tighten a collet nut is the leading cause of damaged tool holders, poor runout accuracy, and inadequate clamping force, which leads to tool pull-out during machining. Our precision-engineered spanners are designed to engage the nut perfectly, distributing the tightening force evenly across the slots or flats. This guarantees that the collet is compressed squarely into the taper, achieving maximum gripping power and preserving the life of your expensive CNC tooling.
Premium Hardened Steel: Drop-forged from high-quality carbon steel (such as 45# or 40Cr) and heat-treated to HRC 44-48. This provides the perfect balance of high tensile strength to withstand heavy torque without snapping, and enough surface hardness to resist wear over thousands of tool changes.
Precision Fit: The engagement teeth, hooks, and hex profiles are precision-machined to match international standard ER nut dimensions exactly. This eliminates "slop" and prevents the wrench from slipping off under pressure.
Ergonomic Design: Features a comfortable, elongated handle design that provides excellent leverage, allowing operators to easily achieve the recommended torque specifications for proper collet seating.
Corrosion Resistance: Finished with a durable black oxide or electrophoretic coating to prevent rust and withstand the harsh, coolant-heavy environments of modern machine shops.
Comprehensive Range: We manufacture the exact wrench required for every style of ER nut on the market, ensuring you have the right tool for the job.
Direct Manufacturer Savings: Bypass trading companies and source essential CNC setup accessories directly from our factory for highly competitive wholesale pricing.
All Wrench Types Available:
M-Type (Mini): For castellated mini nuts (e.g., ER8M, ER11M, ER16M, ER20M) used in tight clearance applications.
A-Type: For standard slotted nuts (e.g., ER11A, ER16A, ER20A) featuring a semi-circular gripping head.
UM-Type: For large hexagonal or slotted nuts (e.g., ER25UM, ER32UM, ER40UM) providing maximum torque transfer.
Hook-Type (C-Spanner): The traditional crescent shape for large slotted nuts (e.g., ER40, ER50, OZ25).
Strict Quality Control: Every batch of wrenches is torque-tested to ensure they exceed standard industrial requirements without deformation.
OEM & Customization: We offer custom laser engraving of your brand logo or torque specifications directly onto the wrench handle.
Q1: How do I know which type of wrench I need for my tool holder?
A: You must look at the nut on your ER collet chuck:
If the nut is very small and has castellated slots (teeth) cut into the top face, you need an M-Type (Mini) wrench.
If the nut is round with slots cut into the side, and is relatively small (ER11-ER20), you need an A-Type wrench.
If the nut has six flat sides like a hex bolt (or large slots), you need a UM-Type wrench.
If the nut is very large and round with slots cut into the side (ER40+), you need a Hook-Type wrench.
Q2: What happens if I use a standard adjustable wrench instead of an ER spanner?
A: Using an adjustable wrench, pipe wrench, or pliers will quickly round off the corners of a hex nut or crush the slots of a round nut. More importantly, it applies uneven pressure, which can distort the nut, causing the collet to seat unevenly. This results in terrible tool runout (wobble) and dramatically reduces the clamping force, leading to broken tools and scrapped parts.
Q3: What does the number mean? (e.g., ER32)
A: The number refers to the size of the ER collet system. An ER32 wrench is designed specifically to fit the nut of an ER32 tool holder. You cannot use an ER25 wrench on an ER32 nut, as the diameters are completely different.
Q4: Do you offer torque wrenches for ER collet chucks?
A: Yes! While standard spanners are suitable for general use, we highly recommend using our specialized ER torque wrench heads (which fit onto standard click-type torque wrenches) for high-precision applications to ensure the collet is tightened to the exact manufacturer specification every time.
Protect your tooling investment and ensure perfect runout with our Precision ER Collet Spanner Wrenches.
