While ER collets are excellent for general-purpose work, they rely entirely on friction to hold the cutting tool. During heavy roughing, slotting, or when machining tough materials on manual milling machines, the immense axial forces can cause the end mill to pull out of the collet, ruining the workpiece and potentially damaging the machine. The DIN 2080 NT SLN Side Lock Arbor (Weldon Holder) provides a foolproof mechanical solution. The holder features a precision bore and one or two heavy-duty set screws on the side. These screws tighten directly against the flat machined into the shank of a Weldon-style end mill, creating a positive lock that makes tool pull-out or rotation physically impossible.
Zero Tool Pull-Out: The side set screw(s) mechanically lock into the Weldon flat on the tool shank. This guarantees absolute security against tool slippage, spin, or pull-out during the most aggressive heavy-depth-of-cut (HDOC) manual milling operations.
Maximum Rigidity: Forged from premium alloy steel (such as 20CrMnTi) and case-hardened to HRC 56-60. The solid, thick-walled construction of the arbor body absorbs heavy milling vibrations, preventing chatter and extending the life of your cutting tools.
High Precision Bore: The internal tool bore and the external NT machine taper are precision-ground simultaneously. We guarantee a maximum Total Indicator Runout (T.I.R.) of ≤ 0.005mm (5 microns), ensuring even chip loads and superior surface finishes.
Standard Drawbar Threads: Machined with standard internal threads at the rear of the taper to perfectly match your machine's manual drawbar (e.g., M12 for NT30, M16 for NT40, M24 for NT50). Imperial (inch) drawbar threads are also available upon request.

Q1: What does "SLN" mean? Is it the same as a Weldon holder?
A: Yes. "SLN" stands for Side Lock Nut (or Side Lock End Mill Arbor), which is the technical term for what is commonly known in the industry as a Weldon Holder. They are designed specifically to hold end mills that have a flat section ground into the side of the shank (a Weldon flat).
Q2: Can I use a regular round-shank end mill in a Side Lock (Weldon) holder?
A:No, it is not recommended. If you tighten the set screw against a perfectly round, hardened carbide or HSS shank, it will not hold securely and will likely crush or fracture the tool shank. Side lock holders must only be used with tools that have a proper Weldon flat. For round shanks, use an ER Collet Chuck or a Power Milling Chuck.
Q3: Can I use an NT40 holder in a BT40 or SK40 CNC machine?
A:No. While NT40, BT40, and SK40 all share the same 7/24 taper angle, the top portion is completely different. NT holders have a cylindrical pilot and an internal thread for a manual drawbar. BT and SK holders have a specific V-flange for an Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) and internal threads designed to accept a pull stud (retention knob). They are not interchangeable.
Q4: Do the holders come with the set screws?
