A: "FMB" designates a metric face mill arbor designed to hold shell mills with metric bore diameters. The number following "FMB" is the exact diameter of the pilot spigot in millimeters. For example, an FMB22 arbor has a 22mm pilot and is designed to hold a face mill with a 22mm center hole.
Q2: How do I choose the correct FMB size for my face mill?
A: You must measure the center bore (hole) diameter of your indexable face mill cutter.
If the bore is 22mm, you need an FMB22 holder.
If the bore is 27mm, you need an FMB27 holder.
If the bore is 32mm, you need an FMB32 holder. Note: If your face mill has an imperial (inch) bore, such as 1" or 1-1/4", you will need an FMA (inch) style arbor, not FMB.
Q3: Can I use an NT40 holder in a BT40 or SK40 CNC machine?
A:No. While NT40, BT40, and SK40 all share the same 7/24 taper angle, the top portion is completely different. NT holders have a cylindrical pilot and an internal thread for a manual drawbar. BT and SK holders have a specific V-flange for an Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) and internal threads designed to accept a pull stud (retention knob). They are not interchangeable.
