The Quick Release Woodworking Bench Vise is an indispensable tool for cabinet makers, carpenters, and serious DIY enthusiasts. Traditional screw vises require tedious cranking to adjust to different workpiece sizes. Our quick-release mechanism solves this by disengaging the lead screw with a simple pull of a trigger, allowing the front jaw to slide freely in or out. Once positioned against the wood, a quick turn of the handle re-engages the screw for a powerful, secure clamp. This feature saves countless hours of setup time, reduces operator fatigue, and makes one-handed operation a breeze.
Rapid-Action Quick Release: A robust trigger mechanism instantly disengages the half-nut from the lead screw, allowing for rapid jaw adjustment. Simply slide the jaw to the workpiece and turn the handle to tighten.
Heavy-Duty Cast Iron Construction: The main body and sliding jaw are cast from high-tensile strength iron, ensuring maximum rigidity and preventing deflection under heavy clamping pressure.
Precision Guide Bars: Two solid steel guide rods ensure the front jaw remains perfectly parallel to the rear jaw, providing even clamping force across the entire surface of your workpiece.
Adjustable Front Dog: Features a built-in, retractable steel front dog. When used in conjunction with bench dogs on your workbench, it allows you to securely clamp oversized boards or panels flat on the benchtop.
"Toe-In" Jaw Design: The jaws are slightly angled (toed-in) at the top. When clamping pressure is applied, they flex to become perfectly parallel, ensuring a firm, even grip on the wood without slipping.
Pre-Drilled for Wood Faces: The cast iron jaws are pre-drilled and countersunk, allowing you to easily attach custom wooden jaw pads to protect delicate workpieces from marring.
Direct Manufacturer Savings: Bypass trading companies and source premium woodworking tools directly from our factory for highly competitive wholesale pricing.
Comprehensive Size Range: We manufacture these vises in the two most popular sizes: 7-inch (approx. 175mm) and 9-inch (approx. 225mm) jaw widths, to suit any bench size.
Strict Quality Control: Every vise is inspected for smooth quick-release operation, guide bar parallelism, and casting integrity before packaging.
OEM & Customization: We offer custom paint colors (e.g., traditional green, blue, or black) and custom casting/engraving of your brand logo for retail distributors and catalog companies.
Q1: How exactly does the quick-release mechanism work?
A: By pulling the trigger (or lever) located near the handle, a half-nut inside the vise disengages from the threaded lead screw. This allows the front jaw to slide freely along the guide bars. Releasing the trigger and turning the handle slightly clockwise re-engages the nut with the threads for final tightening.
Q2: Why do I need to add wooden faces to the jaws?
A: While the cast iron jaws are machined smooth, clamping bare metal against soft wood can cause dents, bruising, or dark stains (from the iron). Attaching wooden faces (using the pre-drilled holes) protects your workpieces and provides a better frictional grip.
Q3: How do I mount this vise to my workbench?
A: The vise is designed to be mounted to the underside of your workbench top. It features cast-in mounting flanges with pre-drilled holes. You will use heavy-duty lag screws or through-bolts to secure it. For the best performance, the rear jaw should be mounted perfectly flush with the front edge of your bench.
Q4: What is the purpose of the pop-up metal dog on the front jaw?
A: The retractable front dog is designed to be used in tandem with bench dogs (pegs) inserted into holes on the top of your workbench. By raising the vise dog and placing a bench dog behind your workpiece, you can use the vise to clamp long boards or wide panels flat against the benchtop for planing or sanding.
